Travel Alert:
Airlines now charging fees for checking second bag; some charge for first checked bag

Major US airlines have adopted policies that charge customers fees for checking a second bag. Until recently, general airline industry practice had been to allow passengers two free checked bags, normally of up to 50 or 70 pounds each. However, many air carriers have recently adopted policies of charging passengers an amount, in addition to the fare already paid, for any checked baggage or for more than one checked bag. Most of these policies impose a fee of $25 for checking a second bag, while more recent changes on some carriers also include an additional fee for every bag that is checked. Please note that airline baggage policies are subject to change. Before booking your next flight, be sure to check with your C&T travel consultant or contact the airline directly for their checked baggage policy.
